I made BBQ sauce last week and bottled it up for another day. I missed our BBQ. I need to can some more. So Sunday we had BBQ chicken and magic beans for dinner. The magic beans were a hit. They are purple beans:
As they cook they turn green.
The kids thought that was pretty spiffy doodle.

Monday we introduced our Family Gospel Scholar program during FHE. And then the kids decorated journals that I made from printed paper and cereal boxes. They dug through my scraps box and used mod podge to paste the scraps on to the covers.

Clockwise from upper left: Mine, Andrea's, Jonathan's, David's. Peter didn't get one. He DID get to have some of the sweet blueberry cobbler we had for desert.

We made our first entries into our journals tonight before bed. David said everything was awesome, and talked about the open house at school where he met his new teacher. Andi talked about how she talked to a doctor today. She is healthy. She also talked to the girl missionaries. And had an ice cream sandwich at school. I fleshed all of those out in my entry.

We did indeed all have dr appointments this morning. Meds were adjusted, EpiPen ordered for David, referrals made for an immunologist so we can get vaccines rolling for the big kids. Peter's hemoglobin is sitting pretty at 11.8, though he is really bloated and has the strangest poops these days. Still waiting on news from pathology about last week's scopes. I missed a call from them this evening, I'm sure I'll be able to get info from them in the a.m.

This afternoon the sister missionaries came by. We got to know a bit about Sister Luke, a new sister in our ward. She's a little odd. And loud. But she is passionate about what she's doing.

At 4:30 we headed over to the school's open house and got to meet Mrs. Sherman, David's second grade teacher. I'm looking forward to a stellar year, I think David will be very happy. There were a number of kids from his first grade class in his new class, that should be good for him. He rides the bus at the same time as last year, no changes there. We saw the new principal, and then we grabbed ice cream sandwiches as we wandered into the gym to check out the PTA tables. I won't have much time, but I'll do what I can to participate and know what is going on with our schools. They have an auction in April, I will make a few quilts or blankets from scraps and donate them for that fundraiser.

We came home and had dinner, then played and read and wrote in our journals.

From my reading:

Psalms 17: 5-6, 15

Hold up my goings in they paths, that my footsteps slip not.
I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.
As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

Funnies

David:

"Mom! We're watching chamber pots!"

..... "You mean Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets?"

"Daddy said it was Chamber Pots..."

-----

"So what are we getting for our REAL lunch?" Said as we were leaving to run errands after having pulled-pork sandwiches, fruit, and chips as our (apparently fake) lunch.

-----
"What?? I have to go back to school? Does it ever end?"
"Nope."

Andi:

"We have to go home right now! Somebody will take our house!" Said three hours into our road trip to Nauvoo. She was so glad our house was still there when we got home.

"That's my very best friend...... What's dat girl's name?" Said of her cousin Evelyn in almost the same breath.

Summer camp

David and Andrea had summer camp a few weeks ago. I had a week of just me and Peter! It was pretty weird.... I look forward to another week of camp next week. The kids go to the zoo next Friday!

Birthday in July

My Nanny has been SUPER busy lately. Worked to our advantage, really, because she sent the kids' birthday gifts in July during a really, really tough week for all of us. It gave us a really happy, bright moment to get these wonderful birthday presents!

Those are some really happy faces. Nanny, you're the best! :)

Summer projects

Made water color paints

David loves to tie-dye things
